Business News: Your vote – make sure you can use it

The Vote

This is a major election year. Don’t miss out on your chance to vote – make sure you are registered today. Local and national elections take place on Thursday 7 May 2015. Residents of Brighton & Hove must register to be able to vote in these elections and any other elections or referendum.

Make sure you are on the electoral roll, to have your say at the ballot box about who will be your local councillors and Member of Parliament. It is everyone’s individual responsibility to register to vote. If you are aged 16 or over you can register, but you cannot vote until you are aged 18.

Registering to vote is quick and easy – it takes less than five minutes online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. If you do not have access to the web then call 01273 291999 for information on how to make sure you are included. You will need to know your National Insurance number and date of birth.

Look out for letters from Brighton & Hove City Council Electoral Services team with more information about what you must do to be registered to vote.
