News - Griffith Smith Farrington Webb to take on the Three Peaks Challenge
Every eight hours someone in the UK is told that they will never walk again due to damage to their spinal cord. It could happen to any of us, at any time, as a result of an accident or illness.
We are Corporate Partners of the Spinal Injuries Association and have decided on a tough challenge to raise much needed funds for the charity.
So, what did we come up with?
Our brainstorming session was fun, ranging from abseiling (even my 9 year old can do that), throwing ourselves out of a plane (too scary!) to taking on the Three Peaks Challenge; a 24 hour non-stop event which involves climbing the UK’s three highest peaks, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden. And there we have it, decision made and the Three Peaks Challenge has been booked for August 2015.
All we have to do now is get the right kit (the list is mind bogglingly long) train like mad, raise thousands of pounds for the charity and squeeze in the day job and family life in between!
Our team of 8 is made up of 6 Partners from Griffith Smith Farrington Webb, Nick Evans (our Senior Partner), Adrian Bell, Linda Chapman, Deborah Cain, Emma Weir and me. Our 7th member is our budding Marketing Executive, Vicky King and the 8th, a Trainee Accountant, Gavin Farley who I am told is a serious rugby player and I am also hoping will be good at the fireman’s carry!
We are all pretty apprehensive at the moment and some are making better progress with their fitness routine than others, but the great thing at this stage is that we are all enthusiastic, excited and getting fitter!
